Writing Workshops

Monday, October 2, 2023, 6:30-8:00pm

Berlin-Peck Memorial Library, Berlin, CT

Have an idea for a story, novel, or memoir but don’t know where to begin? In this workshop, we’ll examine introductions from published stories and use these as inspiration for your own opening lines, and create rough outlines for the remainder of your story.

Thursday, November 2, 2023, 6:00-7:30pm

Henry Carter Hull Library, Clinton, CT

Kick off National Novel Writing Month with prompts to brainstorm new characters and/or further develop characters you may have already created for a short story or novel. We will explore ways to enhance characterization in whatever stage of the writing process you are currently in.

Tuesday, November 21, 2023, 6:00-7:30pm

Henry Carter Hull Library, Clinton, CT

This workshop will provide participants with an introduction to the shortest of short stories (1000 words or fewer). We will read examples of flash stories, work with prompts to write your own flash stories, and discuss avenues for publishing.
